Who we used to be…Who we have grown into
We are thrilled to announce a significant transformation in our non-profit organization. Formerly known as Outcast Food Network, we are proud to introduce our new identity as Outcast Wellness Alliance (OWA). This change represents a shift in our mission and vision as we seek to redefine the way we serve our community.
Previously, Outcast Food Network focused primarily on providing direct services to individuals in need. While this approach undoubtedly made a tremendous difference in the lives of countless community members, we have recognized the need to evolve and address the root causes of social challenges.
Under our new name, Outcast Wellness Alliance, we are embracing a fresh perspective on community empowerment. Our mission is to provide services that enhance the lives of community members, enabling them to become more self-sustained. By shifting our focus towards empowerment, we are confident that we can create long-lasting changes within our community.
At Outcast Wellness Alliance, we firmly believe that true progress is achieved when individuals have the ability to rise above their circumstances and become self-reliant. To accomplish this, our organization will be providing a variety of resources, programs, and initiatives that foster personal growth, skills development, and community engagement.
We will work closely with community members to identify their unique needs and aspirations. Through collaborative partnerships and a holistic approach, we aim to help individuals build stronger foundations for success, allowing them to achieve self-sustainability in all areas of their lives.
Our commitment to serving the community remains as powerful as ever, but with Outcast Wellness Alliance, we are approaching our work with a fresh perspective. We are excited about the potential for transformation and the positive impact we can create together.
Join us on this new journey as we strive to make a lasting difference in our community and create an environment where every individual has the ability to thrive. Together, we can build a stronger, more self-sustained community for everyone.

CAMP MARIPOSA

Camp Mariposa (CM) Baltimore is a year-round youth camp that serves youth ages 9-12 who have been affected by a close family member’s substance use. CM Baltimore will offer youth an opportunity to attend 6 fun and exciting overnight camp weekends held every other month throughout the year. Youth participate in fun traditional camp activities and will learn problem solving skills and self-care strategies. These weekend camps are be led by mental health professionals with the support of a team of trained adult mentors. In the months in-between camp weekends, fun social activities are offered to youth. One of the great things about Camp Mariposa is that youth are able to connect with adult mentors who are there to help them as well as with youth who have had similar experiences. Most of all, we want to offer kids an opportunity to be kids, learn some new skills and have fun!
The primary goal of the Camp Mariposa program is to break the intergenerational cycle of addiction by providing targeted support and mentorship to youth ages 9 through 12 who have been affected by the substance use of a family member. As part of this larger goal, Camp Mariposa strives to meet the following goals:
-
Delaying onset of first use of drugs and alcohol
-
Preventing or reducing involvement in the juvenile justice system
-
Connecting youth with caring and supportive mentors
-
Creating a positive peer support network for youth
-
Providing opportunities to participate in fun positive activities
-
Let kids be kids and have fun
All Camp Mariposa programs and activities are provided free of charge to youth and families. We will provide transportation and camping supplies such as sleeping bags to make it easier for kids and families to participate.

Testimonials
Food Pantry:
“I never imagined that I would find myself in a position where I needed help to feed my family. I reached out to the Md Food Bank, and that’s when I learned about the Outcast Wellness Alliance food distribution program. From the moment I walked in, I was treated with such kindness and respect. The volunteers greeted me warmly and made me feel welcome, which meant a lot during such a difficult time. This food distribution program has been a lifeline for my family. Each week, we receive fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, canned goods, and even some treats for the kids. The Outcast Wellness Alliance food distribution program has done more than just fill our pantry; it has given us a renewed sense of hope and the strength to keep moving forward. I am incredibly grateful for the generosity of everyone involved in this program. They have made a significant difference in our lives, and I will be forever be thankful.”
Today, Alex is thriving as a freshman in his studies. I am incredibly proud of his achievements and grateful for the OWA’s mentorship program’s role in his success. The program has made a profound difference in our lives, providing opportunities and support that I couldn’t have offered alone.
To all of the New Vision mentors and volunteers, who make this program possible, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your dedication and generosity has had a great impacted on Alex’s life.
